The Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodinma on Public Safety, Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nzekwe, has described Senator Hope Uzodinma as a man of grace who also means well for Imolites.
The former lawmaker for Nkwerre state constituency disclosed this yesterday in an exclusive interview with Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper. He maintained that the present administration in the state ably led by Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma is doing well by providing good governance to the people of Imo State.
According to Nzekwe, “what speaks for a government is performance and not about making noise, propaganda or street fighting. When you see what Senator Hope Uzodinma is doing, you will know that he is focused and passionate about giving the people the best”.
Speaking further, Hon Nzekwe reiterated that he had worked with virtually all the past governors in the state but has not seen a government that means well for people as the present government in the state.
He pointed out that the newly constructed Chukwuma Nwoha road by Governor Hope Uzodinma is a big relief to Imo residents, stressing that none of the past governors ventured into such project, maybe because of the amount of money involved or because they didn’t have the interest of the state at heart.
“For Governor Hope Uzodinma to know how much such project will cost and still decided to do it means, he has good intention for the state and is poised to dispense the dividends of democracy to Imo people”.
He also hinted that the governor needs the support and cooperation of Imo people in order to succeed in office, and assured that the government will embark on massive road construction in the state once the rainy season stops, stressing that meaningful road constructions are done during the dry season and not raining season.
On the level of opposition in the state the former lawmaker maintained that opposition in the state are not constructive in their criticism but rather operate with the mentality that if my party is not in power no other party should be.
Hon. Nzekwe also described opposition in the state as bad loosers maintaining that when one loses an election he or she should go back to the drawing board and look for a way to win future elections and also help the government in power to succeed.
He therefore urged the opposition not to jeopardize the peace and unity of the state in the name of playing politics. Hon. Nzekwe cited the period when the issue of ‘Uknown gunmen’ paralyzed economic activities in the State, he stressed that the situation affected all Imolites and not only APC members.
On the lingering fuel crisis in state, Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe said that the issue between Petroleum Marketers and the state government has political undertone because the person that went to court ought to have allowed the court to decide on the matter as the state government appealed the matter.
He accused some members of the Petroleum Marketers to be members of the opposition parties who are bent on giving the present administration a bad name and as well cripple the economy of the state.
He appealed to Petroleum Marketers in the state to have a rethink and consider the welfare of others and not just profit they make. He revealed that he has gotten reports of houses being burnt in the state as a result of people trying to store fuel in their homes.
He urged the marketers to give peace a chance and henceforth stop sabotaging the efforts of the state government and the economy of the state.
