The former Vice Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze Edward Njoku has told the people of the state to allow the Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma to choose the next chairman of Imo State Council of traditional rulers in the state.
Eze Njoku who was reacting to publications made in the Nigeria Watchdog and Eastern Lead Express newspapers, where the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Okigwe zone, Hon. Chidi Dike described him as an eminent and qualified traditional ruler in the zone, who will help the Governor to pilot the affairs of the state.
Eze Njoku said that the PDP and the entire Imo people should give the Governor Uzodinma time to appoint whoever he deems fit and right to become the next chairman of Imo state council of traditional rulers in the state.
According to him, “labeling me as an eminent and qualified traditional ruler in Okigwe zone to become the next chairman of Imo state council of traditional rulers is an attempt by my enemies to make the Governor Uzodinma see me as a desperate monarch who wants to be the chairman at all cost”.
The Monarch wondered why anybody would want to peddle his name against the will of the Governor of Imo state, stressing that Governor Uzodinma is at liberty to choose and appoint whoever he wants to pilot the affairs of the traditional institution in the state.
The traditional ruler of Umuenyi autonomous community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state said that the PDP should concentrate more on providing the ruling party APC with the necessary wherewithal as the main opposition party in the state instead of dragging his name into their unfounded allegations against the people’s Governor.
Eze Njoku added that Governor Uzodinma should be applauded for the way and manner he has transformed the state within this one and half years in office as the Executive Governor of Imo state.
He described Eze Emmanuel Okeke as his personal friend and ally, pointing out that, “as a former Patron of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, they all have a lot of respect for me and as such, l do not have any issue with Eze Okeke and his team”.
