v Continues road supervision,construction
Despite lamentations by a cross section of Imo people, especially motorists over the harassment and violent attack on them by the younger brother of the Imo State governor, Uche Uzodinma, the latter has continued to supervise and execute road contracts in the state.
It has also been revealed that contract for the construction/rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt road was originally awarded to Coduc but was revoked by Governor Uzodinma on assumption of office, hence his younger brother, Uche Uzodinma allegedly took over by proxy.
The above revelation was given credence, when Uche Uzodinma in an interview acknowledged that the contract for the construction of the road was awarded to one Nnadozie Uwajumogu, late Ben Uwajumogu’s younger brother, while he (Uche’s) assignment is to supervise the construction.
However, sources at the Ministry of Works, debunked Uche’s assertion which they described as deceitful. They revealed that Uche presently handles most of the road construction projects in the state through companies he engages on certain terms and agreements. “The job was actually given to Nnadozie Uwajumogu who now operates his late brother’s asphalt plant but Uche Uzodinma owns the contract. That is why he parades the area on daily basis”.
Uche Uzodinma is reported to have also told a journalist who asked him if aside Comrade Precious Nwadike, he beat another person, he said he condescended so low by accepting to supervise roads in Imo State, hence motorists provoke, insult and get on his nerves, resulting in his equally descending on them.
Recall, that one Mr Eregbu recently alleged that the governor’s brother beat him to stupor in the presence of his asthmatic son.
It was also gathered that the said Eregbu, a community leader and builder had disclosed that Uche Uzodinma after unleashing mayhem on him, he was determined to seek justice but soft pedaled when one Chief Ogbuagu intervened and settled the matter based on some terms and agreement.”when I accepted the terms of the settlement and decided to allow the sleeping dog to lie, because of the involvement of Chief Ogbuagu who I have respect for, Uche Uzodinma absconded and never kept to any of the terms of settlement. I am ready to testify against him anywhere and any day, as I did recently on Hot 99.9fm radio station”.
Meanwhile, the Publisher of Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper has alerted the Imo State Commissioner of Police of alleged threat to his life by goons loyal to Uche Uzodinma. In a petition dated March 9, 2021, he narrated how Uzodinma’s site manager allegedly came to his house but he was prevented entrance.
Thereafter, the self acclaimed site manager called him on phone and warned him to shun the idea of going to court to seek redress or face the consequences.
