The appointment and posting of Hon Ijeoma Obiezu as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ireland has been hailed and commended by a cross section of Imo people at home and in the Diaspora who described her as a seasoned administrator, technocrat and community leader who has the wherewithal to deliver on her new assignment .
Some of them who spoke to this reporter said, Hon Obiezu’s appointment and posting are commensurate reward for hard work, diligence and impeccable track record.
An APC Woman Leader in Nwangele local government, Hon Chief Vivian Okoro described Hon Obiezu as a go-getter, a woman of virtue, an an epitome of ideal womanhood who has all it takes to excel in any position of trust and responsibility.
She further stated that Hon Obiezu’s achievements as Chairman of Ideato North L.G.A attest to her ability and capacity to perform creditably. “As a woman leader of APC in my area, working with Hon Obiezu was an eventful and delightful experience. Her appointment and positing will redefine and change the narrative of women participation in politics”.
Speaking in the same vein, the Deputy Coordinator of Hope Uzodinma Students Solidarity Movement, Comrade Promise Uzorma, expressed delight at Hon Obiezu’s appointment and posting. He recalled that Hon Obiezu had on several occasions, hosted Imo Students in her office as Chairman of Ideato North L.G.A.
“ This was unusual, considering the attitude of her predecessors who were always aloof and found it difficult to grant youths audience . Amb Obiezu places much premium on youth and women development.”
He called on Amb Obiezu to keep the flag flying and sustain the values she propagated and was known for, which earned her the love, respect and admiration of all, especially among Imo Students .
“Aside being Patroness of most student bodies in the state, she is also known to have awarded scholarship to a good number of indigent students in the area.”
