v As Watchdog staff bags award for ”Women Mata” series

Dignified Womanhood Platform (DWP) on 17th of October 2020 held her annual International Young Women Conference with the theme ” Get a life before becoming a wife” during which women from all walks of life gathered to acquire mental, intellectual and entrepreneurial skills.
The Convener of the conference, Mr. Gerald Johnbosco Ihemegbulam during his opening remarks expressed special thanks to God Almighty for the realization of his dream which he described as a worthwhile achievement.
According to him, gathering young women to inform and enlighten them on how to maximize the potentials of womanhood gives him unfathomable fulfillment, and satisfaction.
The keynote speaker, Lady Ijeoma Nnennaya Udensi (PhD), President National Council for Women Societies, Imo State wing in her lecture dwelt on the importance of getting a life as a woman before becoming a wife.
According to her,for a woman to become a wife, she needs maturity because marriage is too demanding. She listed some of the duties of a good wife which include loving her husband unconditionally, obeying him, covering his weaknesses, building his strengths, helping him financially and otherwise, keeping his honour and being faithful to him and meeting his every needs. ” There is a kind of fulfilment you get when you are helping a man to solve problems in the home. Get a life, stop wasting your time chatting, gossiping and rigmaroling. I charge you to be an asset to your husband not a liability”, she admonished.
The climax of the occasion was the crowning of ”Girl Child” Ambassadors and presentation of awards to different women who in their critical assessment, have made impacts in their own unique ways towards the growth and development of women in their localities.
Prominent among those honoured are; Hon. Uju Onwudiwe, the honourable member representing Njaba State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly who in her remark, enjoined women to always explore the beauty of womanhood by growing the society and homes through their contributions. She also stressed on the importance of companionship which comes with marriage but maintained that every woman should endeavour not to go into marriage without a job, work, skills or career.
Others are; Dorcas Samson Achi, a journalist and the author of the widely read “Woman Mata”’ of Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper column also bagged an award of honour for her immense contributions and public enlightenment to society, building and woman development. Another recipient was Harriet Ijeomah, a journalist also on the Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper stable and founder of Every Girl Movement, “Campaign against High Cost of Sanitary Pad” who bagged two awards for herself and her foundation for being vocal against any form of discrimination against women and other women, who were recognized and honoured for their pecularities.
Recall that Mr. Gerald has in the past organized several outreaches, seminars and conferences in different schools and women development centers for the betterment of the Girl Child.
Other dignitaries at the event were Hon. Amanze, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Imo State Governor on Entertainment Mrs Joy Chidiebere Obi, the Proprietor of Superstar International Education Center (Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools), Regina Chigaemezu, the Founder of Dare to Dream Initiative (DDI) who is also received an award for women capacity building and enhancement.
