– Eze Egeolu spits fire, says detractors want his downfall
Sequel to recent media reports urging the state government to dethrone the traditional ruler of Umuonyeukwu autonomous community in Ikeduru Council Area, HRH Eze Ifeanyichukwu Egeolu, over alleged misappropriation of Governor Rochas Okorocha’s N500,000.00 for rural roads rehabilitation projects, the monarch of the community has described those behind the report, as disgruntled elements who want his downfall at all cost.
Speaking to journalists yesterday, Eze Egeolu maintained that he used the money approved for him by Imo State government to grade all the important rural roads in his community. He also demanded that Imo State government should set up a committee to ascertain the level of work already done by the traditional rulers as soon as possible.
Commenting further, on the attempt by mischief makers to blackmail him the traditional ruler accused one Chief Joseph Dibianta Iheanacho of masterminding the crisis in his community, maintaining that he (Dibianta) led a protest recently to the Ministry of CGC where he gave false information against him.
He urged the public to disregard and completely ignore the information given by Chief Iheanacho whom he accused of forging his signature with which he shortchanged members of the Community Government Council (CGC) in order to make his work as a traditional ruler very difficult. “Dibianta was my Traditional Prime Minister until he was sacked because of arrogance and insubordination. He ceased, to participate in the activities of the Eze’s cabinet for more than five years. And a vote of no confidence was passed on him, an action that made him to start injecting confusion in the community. “Dibianta has vowed to spend a whopping amount of money to dethrone me. Honestly, I retired as the Chief Security Officer, of the Nigeria Embassy in Ivory Coast now Cote d’voire in 2003. And I have been making sure that I foster peaceful co-existence in Umuonyeukwu community since I assumed the throne, of my forefathers as custodian of the culture and tradition of my people.
“Let me also inform you that those people from the five component villages of the community whom he claimed signed the petition he addressed to the Commissioner for CGC, are not parties to the letter. It is pertinent to note that Chief Joseph Dibianta is a native doctor, with diabolical means”.
He (Dibianta) masterminded the discovery of condoms used for sexual intercourse within crusade venues after prayer sessions which led to the banning of crusade/prayer sessions by Christian groups in the community. This is just to safeguard his shrine from being destroyed by Holy Ghost Fire. I decided to lift the ban on public prayer sessions recently, and immediately I found out that it was a purported plan to safeguard his deity and gods”. Eze Egeolu narrated. He added that since lifting the ban, on public prayer sessions and crusade Dibianta has, like a wounded lion done everything he can to destabilize his cabinet.
He also averred that Chief Dibianta and his cohorts held him hostage in his palace during Christmas season as he planned to organize his coronation anniversary which later did not hold. He therefore called on the police to ensure that the evil machinations and threats to his life by Dibianta and his cohorts do not come to pass.
