Gives notice of withdrawal from 1914 amalgamation

On the eve of the celebration of the diamond jubilee independence anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a pro-Biafra group under the aegis of “Worldwide Biafran Elders Forum” (WBEF) has cautioned the federal government against its inability or reluctance to put a check or a halt to the incessant killings in parts of the country.

The Biafran Elders accused the Federal government authorities of complicity in the rampant and unmitigated killings going on in all over the country with emphasis on the South East and South South geopolitical regions.

In a press release issued by three leaders of the forum, Chief Paddy Omekannanya Onyenso Amadi, Professor Festus Amaraegbulam and Chief Akubue Williams and made available to NIGERIA WATCHDOG, the group recalled the genesis of the Nigeria amalgamation of 1914 which they claim  has remained comatose, highlighting paragraph of the edict which stated that after one hundred years, it will expire and also states that after its expiration, any party therein can re-evaluate it to ascertain or determine if it wants to continue to be together or exit and go its separate ways.

The group in no equivocal terms claimed that the insecurity challenges posed by Boko Haram insurgency, the military, Miyetti Allah, ISIS  Alamajiris, and armed herdsmen, have been purely directed on those groups or regions who are seeking separation from a perceived united Nigeria and cautioned that the ploy to maximize the use of these murderous groups by the Buhari administration will yield no good result but negative effects on the nation.

They averred that based on the provision of that edict and ugly political happenings in Nigeria coupled with serious insecurity challenges and religious intolerance being experienced by the citizens and people of the South-South and South East regions, have opted to quit the amalgamation and go back to their homeland,Biafra.

The people pleaded with the federal authorities to take steps aimed at halting various agents of death from visiting those who seek freedom amicably, owing to the fact that “Nigeria has since expired”.
