Ugoeze Dorathy Okwuchi Nzekwe, wife of the late traditional ruler of Owerre Nkworji autonomous community in Nkwerre LGA of Imo state and mother of Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe, a former legislator for Nkwerre state constituency in the Imo House of Assembly and present Deputy Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Imo state chapter, last Wednesday 27th December, 2017, marked her 80th birthday, amidst accolades and encomiums, for a fulfilled and fruitful life that has continued to impact positively on humanity.
The spectacular event which was heralded with a church service at St. Matthew Church, Owerre Nkworji was attended by many distinguished and high profile personalities, including former governor of Imo state, Chief Achike Udenwa, who moderated the cutting of the cake, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Osita Izunaso, a veteran journalist and former boss of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, former commissioner for Internal Revenue and Pension Matters in the state, Chief Nick Opara Ndudu, the legislator for Nkwerre state constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon Chika Madumere, Mrs. Getrude Oduka, a former commissioner in the state, who was also recently re-appointed and the Chief of Staff government house, Chief Uche Nwosu, Prof Nnamdi Obiaraeri. There was also reception immediately after the church service, at St Matthew primary school field, Owerri Nkworji.
Others present, were, former commissioner for Health who is presently in charge of another ministry, and also one of the celebrant’s children, Barr. Ngozi Njoku, grand children, relations, inlaws, friends, colleagues and associates.
Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe, described his mother, as “a virtuous woman, a devout christian, respected community leader and an epitome of ideal womanhood”. He expressed gratitude to God that she is still healthy at 80 years old and continues to be an inspiration to others.
The presiding priest thanked God for the celebrant’s life and advised the people to imbibe her virtuous qualities, live lives worthy of emulation, to receive God’s blessings.
