The Dean of Students Affairs, Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, Prof Martin Uchenna Nwankwo has stated that his office and the management of Imo State University, Owerri are unaware of the award offered to Uche Nwosu by the president of the Student Union government (SUG) of IMSU.
Nwankwo who spoke with weekend Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper yesterday, said that the Award is not only irregular but unknown to the University authority. According to the Dean, students not in session at the time of the purported award, to meet let alone agreeing on whom to appoint as Life Patron of the school.He disassociated himself and office from the said ridiculous award.
Nwakwo further described the award as very embarrassing to his office, the students community and the school, adding that he has received so many calls from various quarters, including some of the past and present students who also expressed rude shock and total disappointment with the President of the Union.
He said that SUG is made up of the legislative Arm, Judiciary and Executive,explained that if such decision should be taken, it should be a unanimous decision.
He advised the students to be cautious of their actions now and tomorrow so they don’t ridicule themselves, and their prospects.
It would be recalled that some students of Imo state University last week decorated Uche Nwosu as the life Patron of IMSU SUG. This brigandage and affront did not go down well with the students as some of the executives of the SUG have come out publicly to say that such award was an unmerited award,
They accused the President who they said is a graduate of Rochas Foundation Collage of selling the union for peanuts and warned others to desist from such rubbish.
