– Moles planted in Owerri zone
Community Watchdog Newspaper has once again uncovered another conspiracy by the present Imo State government and a number of governorship pretenders or quasi contestants from Owerri zone, to surge into the governorship election race ahead of 2019. The gladiators are to be sponsored on different political platforms including APGA, NUP, LP and PDP in attempt to split Owerri people into different political camps and interests, before the battle of 2019. Already more than 15 governorship aspirants from all walks of life have indicated their interests to contest for the governorship tickets of the various political parties in Owerri zone alone.
The threat in their bids is that since most of these supposed proxy contestants, are employers of labour and prominent in their various communities, they are expected to enjoy popular support from at least their various catchment constituents. The essence is to split the support base for any single governorship candidate of Owerri zone in order to give undue advantage to a sole candidate from Orlu zone. Meanwhile, Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha who is masterminding the above contraption is rumoured to have successfully brokered a political pact with some green horn politicians, governorship aspirants and hopefuls from Orlu zone, to give his preferred or choice candidates, Uche Nwosu, and Chuks Ololo, who would incidentally mop up all the voters from the 12 LGAs of Orlu Senatorial District in order to excel. The decision to stop all the other Orlu political gladiators of Orlu zone from picking the governorship ticket of any other political party, is said to be well received by the stakeholders who in their opinion have resolved to endorse any single candidate who eventually emerges from Orlu zone at the instance sponsorship of Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
The governor is said to be finding it difficult to plant moles from Okigwe zone into the governorship contest hence he is determined to ensure that in the event PDP gives their ticket to Emeka Ihedioha, all other parties will be compelled to offer their governorship tickets to only Owerri candidates. This is believing that he will use his position and closeness with President Muhammadu Buhari to hijack the APC ticket for any of his inlaws Uche Nwosu or Chuks Ololo.
The new pact with Owerri political harlots and stooges is reminiscent of 2015 when “Orlu for Orlu” rented the air with the entire zone endorsing only Rochas Okorocha for governor whereas Owerri zone had Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, Capt. Emma Ihenacho, Barr. Ngozi Olehi, Chief Ukanacho, all in a bid to share the votes of Owerri zone while Okorocha had the advantage of amassing all votes from Orlu zone.
Even at that Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha almost trounced Okorocha and his APC at the 2015 governorship election before the victory of President Buhari, regrettably swayed the votes and INEC in favour of Ethelbert Okorocha. Among those who have accepted to play as a mole in the contest of 2019 is the chairman of a powerful organization in the zone who has pledged total commitment to the new destabilization efforts.
No wonder, the recent mention of the name of Chuks Ololo, husband of the younger sister of Okorocha and Commissioner for Happiness and couple fulfillment, Ogechi as governorship hopeful from Egbelu Obube in Owerri North LGA. It is not known yet if any politician of Okigwe zone origin has conceded to the new Okorocha’s antics. However the Governor has banked on the destructive tendencies of one Onwumere a photographer from Okigwe LGA and Chike Okafor to prevent anyone from Okigwe zone from enjoying popular support against whoever the Governor settles for between Uche Nwosu and Engr. Chuks Ololo. It is also speculated that Senators Hope Uzodinma and Sam Daddy Anyanwu have already aligned with Okorochas conspiracy to deny Okigwe and Owerri zones the governorship seat in 2019.
