– Eulogizes his mercurial engineering integrity
President Muhammadu Buhari has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, kiths and kins, government and people of Imo State and Arondizuogu in particular on the recently reported passing unto glory of Engr (Dr) Ezekiel Izuogu, a fellow of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), who died over the weekend, describing him as a trail blazing innovator, scientist and political iconoclast.
Late Ezikiel Izuogu had missed by the whiskers several attempts at becoming the Executive Governor of Imo State. first by a combination of factors including a resolution by some Owerri politicians never to support his gubernatorial aspiration for dragging their sons, Fabian Osuji and Dr Alex Obi to court and the defection of Ifeanyi Araraume as APP State Chairman along with Evans Enwerem to the PDP, which incident gave Achike Udenwa an unsolicited advantage and the legal abracadabra that rubbished his ambition.
In a condolence message made available to newsmen by the President’s Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Mr Femi Adesina, President Buhari, was convinced that, “as a well-respected academic and gifted engineer, Dr. Izuogu will be fondly remembered and honoured for his exceptional work that laid the foundation for the manufacturing of the first indigenous proto-type car in Nigeria, zitron”.
The President noted that Dr. Izuogu, beyond his accomplishments in the field of science and innovation, was also an important name in Nigeria’s political landscape; and his vision and leadership was recognized in his services as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Board of Trustees and member of the National Caucus.
The President affirmed that the legacies of Dr. Izuogu will live on, in particular his vision and the innovations he pioneered, the human institutions he built and passed on to those that came in close contacts with him.
President Buhari prayed the Almighty God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and comforted all who mourn him as associates, colleagues, friends, well wishers and dependants to have the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss courageously.
