The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor of Imo State on Mining Matters, Chief Kingsley Ufere, has visited the Imo State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on a courtesy call in furtherance of efforts to realize the objectives of his office.
Chief Kingsley Ufere while speaking to the Commandant of the Corps in Imo State, Alhaji Ibrahim Adeboye, expressed serious concern on the unchecked activities of illegal miners and the attendant environmental degradation which have bedeviled the sector.
While commending the Commandant of NSCDC in the state for all their efforts towards securing mining sites, he reiterated the need for a working synergy so as to nip in the bud all forms of illegal mining activities and to raise the internal revenue base of the state.
Hon. Chief Kingsley Ufere appealed to the NSCDC Commandant to see reason with him, to help enforce regulations and sanity in the mining sector.
Reacting to the appeal, the commandant of NSCDC, Imo state Command, Alhaji Ibrahim Adeboye thanked the Special Adviser to the Governor on Mining Matters for soliciting the synergy on time.
In his words, “NSCDC under my command prior to his redeployment to Imo State, has always been in the forefront of ensuring that illegal mining activities is nipped in the bud. This visit today will reawaken our commitment to collaborating with the shared prosperity government of Senator Hope Uzodinma as to save lives, properties and enforce regulations and sanctions.
In his closing remark, the commandant of NSCDC Imo state command, Alhaji Ibrahim Adeboye, promised forthwith to corporate and work with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Mining Matters, so as to enforce regulations and directives of the state government.
