–    Says he has lost memory

The former National Security Adviser (NSA) to President Goodluck Jonathan, who has been incarcerated for over two years, Col. Sambo Dasuki last Wednesday November 1, 2017, appeared in an Abuja High Court for the first time. The Directorate of State Security (DSS) has been mandated to produce him in connection with cases of gross mismanagement of public funds meant for the prosecution of the battle against Boko Haram.

Eye witness accounts who were in court when he appeared, observed that he was in very high spirits and much youthful in appearance than ever imagined. Dasuki was also seen exchanging pleasantries and mixing freely with the crowds, while discussing with his counsel. However, a drama played out when he was being cross-examined in the dock. When asked to confirm that he approved the release of over N400 million to Olisa Metuh, former National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Col. Dasuki claimed to have lost his memories for over 2 years he has been incarcerated adding that as long as he remains in detention, his answer to any question is “I don’t know”. An attempt by his counsel Ahmed Akaji to persuade Justice Abang of the Federal High Court Abuja to order the release of Dasuki and allow him to go home and ascertain the facts, hit the rock when Justice Abang adjourned the case to 30th November, 2017.

This according to the judge is to enable his memories recollect the transaction. The judge had earlier, over ruled ex President Goodluck Jonathan who asked for the sum of N1 billion to enable him appear in court to testify on a case of authorizing the payment N400 million to Olisa Metuh.

The case according to  Justice Abang is not a civil case and as such compels, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to appear in court unfailingly on that day or have himself to blame.  However, Jonathan was of the impression that he would end up implicating himself as fraudulent and corrupt should he testify against Olisah Metuh or deny ever approving the sum of N400 million for him, in order to execute programmes under his purview.
