- Convener Imo Concerned Citizens Forum, Onwubiko refutes publication on Agabi’s withdrawa
The convener of Imo Concerned Citizens Forum (ICCF), Engr Kingsley Onwubiko, has expressed anger over the publication contained in the White Paper Newspaper, Owerri, wherein it was stated that the Lead Counsel to Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha’s application for a review of the Supreme Court judgement, declaring Senator Hope Uzodinma as the validly elected Governor of Imo State, Chief Kanu Agabi, had withdrawn from the case.
In a rejoinder which he made public, Engr Onwubiko described the White Paper publication as misleading and diversionary. He added that the publication was baseless and starved of facts hence the decision of the forum to set the records, straight.
He stated, “it has become clearer that the loquacious Media Adviser to Senator Rochas Okorocha, Sam Onwuemeodo, enjoys being deliberately mischievous and/or ignorant. If not, what could be the reason for a self acclaimed renowned journalist to constantly derive pleasure in misinforming the public?
The recent claim by Onwuemedo that Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha’s lawyer, Chief Agabi (SAN) had withdrawn in the review application case was not just misleading but also misguided. For such lie to make the banner headline in his poorly edited and rarely patronized gossip paper, White Paper, speaks volume of Onwuemeodo’s training as a journalist.
Chief Agabi, by his attainment as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a former Attorney General of the federation and the Lead Counsel to Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, his withdrawal, if true, would have made headlines in national dailies. Not even one reported his purported withdrawal. It was merely a figment of Onwuemeodo’s imagination and wish.
However, Kanu Agabi, SAN, has reassured that He is emotionally committed to getting justice in the matter for review between Uzodinma and Ihedioha, at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Abuja. He also sees the Ihedioha vs Uzodinma issue as a clear case of injustice and an affront to the sanctity of our constitution.
Indeed, Onwuemeodo’s rant is understandable. It smacks of the growing fear in Hope Uzodinma’s camp. First, it was that the application by the people’s choice Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka lacked merit but the handwriting on the wall stated otherwise, now it is that our lead counsel has withdrawn. We are not shaken a bit. Our legal team ably led by Chief Agabi is committed to ensuring that the mandate given to Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha by Imolites is restored. It may tarry but justice will always prevail.
The good people of Imo State are solidly behind the man they voted. Temporal occupants of Imo Government House and enemies of the state like Sam Onwuemedo will in no distance time know that God does not condone injustice”.
