The leadership of the Law students Association (LAWSA), Imo State University (IMSU) Chapter Owerri, on Thursday, January 9, 2020 visited the corporate headquarters of the Watchdog Newspaper in Owerri, located at No 3 Zander Street by School Road, Owerri.

The Association led by Comrade Chinonso Oparaji as President expressed willingness to partner with the Newspaper outfit, especially on the area of information dissemination.

According to Oparaji, LAWSA, “IMSU chapter is ahead of other schools and will continue to make the state proud”. He further stated that IMSU had over the years produced best graduating students at different law schools in Nigeria and will sustain such feat. He attributed the uncommon achievement to the fact that the Law faculty has quality lecturers.

He also disclosed preparedness of the current executive of IMSU LAWSA to float a newspaper that will be circulated, monthly in the faculty and sought the support of the editorial team of Watchdog Newspaper, in this direction.

Responding, the Publisher of Watchdog Newspaper, Comrade Precious Nwadike, commended the students for the initiative to float a Newspaper. He expressed delight they have really shown that they think ahead of others. He maintained that an informed society is a healthy society, arguing that even though Law students are not journalists but basic knowledge of journalism is required to make them successful which is why, they are taught media law and ethics.

He encouraged the Association to keep the flag flying. “As one of you, we shall not hesitate to assist you in our little to succeed. Always count on us”,says Neadike.

Among others who were part of the visit were; Aretola Daniel, Secretary General; Nnadi Nelson, Director of Information; Mezu Ifeanyi, Editor-in-Chief (LAWSA GAZETTE).
