Youthful entrepreneur and renowned philanthropist, Franklin Ngoforo, has commenced an all-encompassing empowerment program in Ideato North LGA of Imo State.
The scheme, for which the sum of N100 million has been set aside, is intended to address the lacuna created by poor political representations in Ideato North over the years which have in the end left the people with broken promises and failed expectations.
Briefing newsmen in his country home, Arondizuogu, the Chairman of Ngoforo Foundation, Franklin Ngoforo, maintained that the extant condition of youths in the area has become intolerable. According him, “It will be criminal for us to keep silent. No society ever grows with the most healthy and productive segment of its population jobless. It is a travesty!”
Continuing, Ngoforo lamented that, “Successive political leaders from this area have not bothered about the future of our people. Our children are brilliant yet no scholarships for them. Our young men and women have extraordinarily inventive minds, yet nobody makes any effort to create opportunities for them to excel. My foundation through which I have chosen to rewrite this narrative is the brainchild of my conviction that creating a personal island of affluence in Ideato which is surrounded by a sea of affliction will be an unpardonable sin against God and mankind.”
He also added that, “The empowerment which we have begun to carry out is driven by a commitment to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit of the young people of Ideato North in various fields of endeavour. The sum of N100 million has been endowed for it. The areas we shall cover include startup capital to aspiring traders, sports, skills acquisition, incentives to students, and inputs to farmers, and a lot more. Our target is to lift at least one thousand people out of poverty before the end of the first quarter of 2020,” he said.
