The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), yesterday May 2, 2019, inaugurated the Imo State caretaker committee of the party at the APGA State Secretariat, Owerri, Imo state.
Delivering the opening address, Pastor Alphonsus Eberendu expressed his gratitude to the National Executive of APGA for putting a stop to the high-handedness, incompetence and non-challant leadership of the sacked APGA State Chairman, Barr Peter Ezeobi. He assured APGA members in the state that the caretaker committee will move the party forward and make APGA to be celebrated.
The National Vice Chairman South East of the party, Chief Uchenna Nwegbo, thanked the National leadership of the party for acting immediately and decisively to rescue, reposition and salvage the party for future success. He also thanked the Imo State chapter of the party for showing resilience and dedication to the growth and development of the party.
He expressed confidence in the newly constituted caretaker committee and described them as capable men and women that can strengthen the party and make it formidable. “We are looking forward to repositioning the party as the foremost political platform in Nigeria”he said.
While addressing the people after the inauguration, the Deputy National Chairman South, Chief (Engr) Uchenna Okogbuo, said that APGA is not a one man party. “It is a very big national party and not an Igbo party alone”. He described APGA as a decent and disciplined party that does not indulge in fraudulent practices to win elections.
He recalled that Senator Ifeanyi Araraume actually won the 2019 Imo governorship election and will soon reclaim his mandate as the executive governor of Imo state. He advised APGA members to remain faithful and steadfast.
Hon. John C. Iwuala, the Acting State Chairman of APGA in his acceptance speech, promised to serve the party faithfully in his capacity and ensure that there will be no more imposition, impunity and negligence of the party constitution. He assured them that the forthcoming ward, LGA and State congresses of the party shall be free, fair, credible and would be conducted on a conducive atmosphere.
Some dignitaries that graced the inauguration include Barr. Ifeanyi Mbeiri; the APGA National Legal Adviser, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume who was ably represented by Hon. (Barr) Emma Nwosu,Charles Onyirimba, Imo North senatorial candidate, among others.
Other members of the caretaker committee include; Chief Jerry Okwukaogu, Mrs Maria Mbanozuo, Dr. Gabriel Onyekwuru, Steve Anugwom, Kelechi Soribe, Mrs Aririatu Alice, Nze Victor Chikwendu Ụzọma, Chief Emma Ike, Temple Opara, Mr. Greg Uzoezie, Barr. Angela Ohale, Barr. Emma Nwosu, Chief Emeka Iroka, Barr. Ifeanyi Olumba, Dr. James Okoroma, Sabina Anukam, Hon. Asomugha Tony, Dr. Henry Okafor, Engr. Austin Achinike.
