The United Progressive Party (UPP) senatorial candidate for Imo West, Comrade Precious Nwadike, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the state to declare him winner.
Comrade Nwadike spoke in a press release which he personally signed, captioned, “call to declare me, as winner of the Imo West senatorial election, held February 23, 2019, having satisfied the requirement of the electoral laws”.
Nwadike said, “sequel to emerging facts on the Imo West senatorial election of February 23, 2019, which was fraught with irregularities and controversies, including open threats on the officials, who manned the process, it has become necessary to declare him winner.
He disclosed that, while his colleagues were busy with the collation of results and returns from the booth, wards, LGAs, Okorocha, was busy manufacturing, manipulating and writing his own figures, knowing as a matter of fact that, he will never win by popular votes”.
“Continuing, Nwadike narrated that, results collected from the field showed clearly that I won the election convincingly in the 12 local government areas of Imo West. We are in possession of the figures as collected from various booths, wards and local government areas. Having done due diligence on the figures I make bold to claim the mandate our people have so generously given me, as their choice in the Senate 2019-2023.
Based on the foregoing I, Comrade Precious Uwadi Nwadike, having confirmed that I polled the highest votes across the 12 Local Government Areas of Imo West Senatorial District and confident that the courage to do the right thing could be summoned by the electoral umpire, hereby call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare me the winner of the election without further delay, having satisfied the relevant provisions of the Electoral Act”.
He concluded his statement by, calling on his opponents, “especially the desperate one” to embrace the truth and accept defeat, adding that election is not a matter of ‘Do or Die’ or a game of desperadoes, as it makes it lose its good and appealing flavour.
