Last Saturday, February 2, 2019, the United Progressive Party (UPP) senatorial candidate for Orlu zone (Imo West), Comrade Precious Nwadike visited the tomb of late Ogbonnaya Uche, in his Ndimoko Arondizuogu community. Moved to tears, Comrade Nwadike after reminiscing the life and times of late OGB, wondered what Orlu zone would have been with Chief Uche as a senator in 2003, when he was murdered.
That was in continuation of his senatorial campaign tour to Ideato North LGA, during which he also paid a courtesy call on the UPP Deputy National Chairman, Chief (Sir) Ejike Uche (Dimkpasaa) in his country home. Chief Ejike Uche was like, late Ogbonnaya Uche, a former Commissioner in Imo state.
During the tour, Comrade Precious Nwadike held meeting with the 14 Ward chairmen of UPP in Ideato North LGA, and members of the LGA executive which was hosted by the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief (Sir) Ejike Uche, who assured him of the readiness of his people to vote him into the senate.
Shortly after the campaign visit, the Town Union Secretary of Ndimoko, Dr Tobenna Cleophas, and other community leaders in the area, led Comrade Precious Nwadike, to late Ogbonnaya Uche (OGB’s) grave side, where he observed a minute silence in honour of the spirit of the dead. Ogbonna Uche was murdered while campaigning to be a senator for the same Orlu zone.
Speaking at the grave side, the Town Union Secretary of the community recalled how OGB’s untimely death devastated the entire community. He described the former Commissioner for Commerce and Industries, who was allegedly assassinated by his detractors and opponents, as a man who was at peace with everyone, and who could not have hurt a fly.
According to him, it was a big loss for the community, adding that, OGB while alive had used his position to attract development to his people, which today, his gruesome murder had robbed the place.
Addressing the press shortly after that, Comrade Nwadike said, “though, he was very young when OGB was reportedly killed for political reasons, he regretted that till date, no effort known to have been made to immortalize the great man, by either the state government or Ideato North LGA authorities.
According to Nwadike, “those who kill for politics, end up destroying their entire generation, since the blood of the dead and nemesis will surely catch up with the perpetrators of such heinous crime anytime, anywhere. He mentioned that the children of such bloody thirsty killers, end up as societal nuisances.
