Linus Okorie, the governorship candidate of Young Progressive Party (YPP), who is presently bestriding the Imo state political terrain like a colossus, unveiled his people oriented blue print of action, in a chat with journalists in Owerri, over the weekend.
The Founder and President, Guardians of the Nation International (GOTNI), a leadership development non profit organization, who holds a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, Virginia Beach, USA and is also an alumnus of the Executive Leadership Education programme of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, Boston USA, with a certification in the Act and Practice of Leadership Development, has assured that he has the requisite, credentials, mindset, experience, exposure and international contact to offer effective and purpose driven leadership that will fix the state’s battered economy, give live to the dying and bastardized institutions of governance and fast track comprehensive development of the state, if elected governor of the state in 2019.
Okorie, whose leadership acumen emerged very early, was appointed Senior Prefect of Government College, Owerri and later the first elected President of Student Union Government of Imo State University, where he helped many students discover their purpose and made necessary commitment to excellence in leadership, said, having worked as a Resarch Assistant to Dr Pat Utomi, at the Lagos Business School and being part of extensive researches on why some nations are poor while others are prosperous, “I have drawn a road map that would model and make Imo a prosperous state, hinged on truth, justice, fairness, accountability, transparency and rule of law. Agriculture for food security, job creation, rural development, security of lives and properties, prompt payment of salaries and pensions will be focal points of my administration”.
He assured that Imo will be, a world class state filled with endless opportunity, through massive human capital development and youth empowerment, attraction of global and local resources and unleashing excellence in governance leading to quality productive, robust and thriving economy for all Imo people. “My passion to serve was motivated by a desire to end the continuous empowerment of few people, while majority of Imolites wallow in abject poverty. “Imo Nkeanyi, is therefore a social movement aimed at ensuring a sense of belonging and collective ownership of the resources and wealth of Imo state for Imolites, enthrone governance based on sound leadership principles that will focus on service delivery and welfare of the people”.
The YPP candidate who said, in recognition of his exceptional contributions towards leadership development, was among the 23 people selected from all over the world and five people from Africa, by the American government, in 2013, for the International Visitors Leadership Programme (IVLP), a programme that has produced over 500 serving Heads of state and Heads of government has deep knowledge of the concepts of leadership, national prosperity and wealth creation. “These experiences will no doubt, impact positively on the state and help in turning the present deplorable state of affairs around”.
