An public opinion analyst and commentator in the state, Nze Elvis Agukwe has expressed happiness over what the outgoing governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha is presently passing through, describing it as the act of God. He charged the governor not to under estimate the people as their voice is the voice of God.
He recalled that Owelle Rochas Okorocha rode to power on propaganda and wrong perception of Imolites and stressed that the governor designed anti elites slogans to shut out prominent leaders of the state from participating in government, in a self crafted propaganda that the elites want him to share Imo money and resources with them.
Nze Agukwe a former Commissioner for Information and later Special Adviser, stated that the governor is shallow minded by thinking that Imolites are not aware of his antics and laughable style of leadership. “Imo political elites completely ignored Owelle Rochas Okorocha to see if he could correct himself but unfortunately he interpreted this to mean that he has conquered everybody, and retired old political war horses”, he stated.
The public opinion analyst decried how the governor on many occasions boasted of how he will retire all known political leaders and install a family hegemony to be controlled by himself alone but today, “Rochas Okorocha is about being retired politically following the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election where his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu lost to Senator Hope Uzodinma, a development he described as a total disgrace to a sitting governor”.
The statement revealed that what is happening to Governor Okorocha is the “beginning of the United Imo Voice against Owelle”. He stressed that the governor fought on all fronts with former governors, political leaders, leaders of churches, labour leaders, artisans, traders, traditional rulers and infact the state work force, local government council staff and the pensioners.
Nze Agukwe opined that Imo people having defeated Rochas Okorocha, the United Voice of the people has become the voice of God. Commenting on the statement credited to the National chairman of APC Adams Oshimhole, “the governors political career is fast coming to an end” he, said only time will tell.
