-Congratulates Osuigwe On Community Reception
A prominent resident of Umuguma and a member of the newly revived Imo Rural Roads Maintenance Agency(IRROMA), Chief Nnaomadiebube Paschal Ezikeojiaku, has appealed to the governor of Imo state, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, to address the Owerri -Umuguma Road that has been in a terrible condition for a long time to facilitate easy movement of goods and persons to and from Owerri Municipality, with considering the volume of business activities and structural development initiated by strangers.
He made the recent appeal through an interaction with some journalists at Umuguma Central School field which served as a venue for the reception organized by the people of Umuguma for the chairman of Owerri West Local Government Area, Hon. Victor Osuigwe, to mark his 100 days in office.
Ogbuonyeisiogu as he is popularly known referred Umuguma’s major problem as bad road which can be handled adequately by the governor.
He revealed that a previous appeal had been made to the governor to fix the road from Control post to Umuguma last Roundabout, which though was awarded few years ago to a particular construction company, stating that the said company did actually commence the job and left it midway which truly worsened its condition.
He equally submitted that the present condition of Umuguma road has not discouraged strangers from coming to live in the community, owing to the level of spirit of accommodation usually exhibited by Umuguma indigenes, describing the community as a good place to live in.
Ogbuonyeisiogu therefore said: ‘Umuguma is a place that has hospitality in her tips, they are very nice people and it is where I have lived for over 14 years without having any problem with them. They cannot harm anybody here, I have never seen any community like this”.
Additionally, Ezikeojiaku advised the people of Umuguma to maintain their already possessed accommodating spirit without departing from it, so as to avoid incurring sudden bad stories about them. He expressed his strong belief that the people will continue to uphold their notable good will, asserting that it is a good story living in Umuguma presently.
When asked if the people of Umuguma in collaboration with the LGA have gone to find out the reason behind the sudden stoppage of the awarded contract by the said construction company, Ezikeojiaku said that they have done that through a peaceful protest and submission of letters to the state governor through the PG, traditional rulers and political stakeholders to remind the contractor of the importance of completing the abandoned road, stressing that the contractor has kept giving an unending promise of returning to site.
Ezikeojiaku did not mince words in assuring the people of Umuguma of his great desire to contribute to the fixing of road challenges in Umuguma community through the use of IRROMA services as her member, reiterating the commitment of the Agency in complying with the dream of the governor’s 3-R mantra and its realization.
The Ihitenasa-Orsu born philanthropist used this channel to thank the people of Umuguma for organizing a beautiful reception for their son and chairman of Owerri West Local Government Area, Hon. Victor Osuigwe, describing the assemblage of guests in the just concluded event as a total expression of happiness and love for him.
It could be recalled that Hon.Victor Osuigwe used the occasion to celebrate his 100 days in office as the executive chairman which attracted many government officials, traditional rulers and professionals.
