The Surveyor General of Imo State, Uzodinma Odidika FCIA, MNIS, has reacted to a report published on page 2 of the January, 30, 2025 edition of Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper, stressing that he did not at any time grant an interview nor make any statement that would suggest that he has ever dared the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma on any matter whatsoever.
Surveyor Uzodinma Odidika, a close relative of Governor Hope Uzodinma, in a letter dated February, 3, 2025 which he addressed to the Editor-in-Chief of Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper with the caption, “RE: IMO SURVEYOR GENERAL DARES GOV. UZODIMMA, A FALSE REPORT IN WATCHDOG NEWSPAPER”, said, “I am writing to bring your attention to a publication in your esteemed newspaper, the Nigeria Watchdog, dated November 30, 2025, with the headline in bold: “Imo Surveyor General Dares Gov. Uzodimma.” The story, which appeared on page 2, makes a claim that is entirely false and misleading. The article did not provide a byline or mention the name of the reporter responsible for it.
“At no point has my office, or I personally, granted any interview or made any statement that would suggest that I have “dared” the Governor of Imo State on any matter, including land issues. I would like to clarify unequivocally that the Office of the Surveyor General operates under the guidance of the Governor and the Ministry of Land, with all directives emanating from his table as the overseeing Commissioner. Therefore, the office is not involved in any political discussions or decisions.
“In the light of this, I formally request within 48 hours the name of the reporter responsible for this story, or alternatively, the byline associated with the publication. This is necessary in order to correct the public record and avoid any further misrepresentation of my office”.
