Dr Batos Nwadike, former Special Adviser, (Political) to Governor Hope Uzodinma has thrown more light on the background of Dr Fabian Ihekweme who he fondly described as his good friend, ally and contemporary.
Nwadike, in a recent article, described Ihekweme as a well educated person who dabbled into the murky waters of human rights activism and clamour for good governance without being tutored and prepared for the task which has humbled him in a very remarkable manner.
He noted that Ihekweme, a former Commissioner for International Affairs’ undoing was his lack of enough financial resources, necessary contacts and other indicesto sustain the tempo he had unwittingly raised.
Another issue that Nwadike’s writeup depicted as analyzed by political pundits, “is Ihekweme’s inconsistency, selfish political inclination, lack of commitment, conviction and resolve to stick to principles which are cardinal requirements for effective and result-oriented activism. This, according to Nwadike was exhibited in Ihekweme willingness to allow himself to be used as a tool to destabilize His Excellency, former governor Emeka Ihedioha’s administration that was seen by many as ordained by God to liberate Imo people from the bondage of maladministration”.
“Like Batos Nwadike rightly said, Ihekweme, from all indications, was not tested, lacks the necessary network, financial capacity, and psychological strength, to engage in the kind of fire brand activism he dabbled into”.
“Today, Dr Fabian Ihekweme has regained his freedom but has lost everything he has built over time in that hand written apology. He has regained his physical freedom but mortgaged his self worth, image and reputation on the altar of fear, trepidation and lack of courage”.
Recall that Dr Fabian Ihekweme had, in series of publications exposed a lot of scandals, and alleged financial infractions allegedly perpetrated by the Uzodinma administration to the admiration of Imo people who applauded his courage and capacity to unveils hidden facts.
However, all that has gone to the wind by virtue of the one page apology where he affirmed that all the facts contained in the series of publications he made are “fallacious and unverifiable”.
