_Works Commissioner Visits Sites

The governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, has been commended by residents of Orlu, Ideato and road users for kickstarting the construction of Orlu/Mgbe/Urualla/Akokwa Road, which was now in a deplorable state.

As part of the state government’s commitment to monitoring projects, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Ralph Nwosu, yesterday inspected the ongoing construction of the Orlu/Mgbe/Urualla/Akokwa Road and the Regional Government House in Orlu earlier today.

During his visit to the Regional Government House Complex, the Commissioner commended the contractor for the quality of work on the structural buildings and encouraged them to expedite the pace of construction to meet deadlines.

Inspecting the Orlu/Mgbe/Urualla/Akokwa Road, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far. He remarked, “This is pure engineering at its best, not Bournvita that you can off shelf. You can simply buy off the shelf. The sophisticated approach being applied here is commendable. The devastation in Umuchima before this project began was alarming, but the transformation so far is remarkable. While it takes a process to achieve such progress, I am confident that this project, once completed, will address the needs of our people and significantly boost the state’s economic prosperity.”

Ralph Nwosu reiterated the commitment of Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration to the successful completion of these projects, in line with the government’s Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Recovery Agenda.

The Umuchima erosion site is currently undergoing environmental assessments, including tests on water flow, soil erosion, and wildlife habitat, alongside erosion control measures with the use of suitable materials for filling, compactment and stabilization, while other sections of the road are receiving drainage channelization and other essential construction.

The Commissioner was joined on the inspection by Barr. Kingsley Onunauju, former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.
