–         Uwakwe Opens Up On Funds Allocated To State

Contrary to speculations that the tensed relationship between Kyrian Uchegbu and Hon Eugene Dibiagwu, representing Ohaji/Egbema, Oru West Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives is the reason for the agitation by youths in the area for the release of the #150m allocated to Imo State, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Eric Uwakwe, has said that the agitation has nothing to do with Dibiagwu nor does it have any political consideration, but a genuine demand by the youths that the money be released to them.

According to Uwakwe, “the #150m released to the state is yet to be disbursed. Hence there is tension in the area. As the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Affairs, I am making an effort to calm the youths, while at the same time calling on those holding the money to do the needful. Their refusal to make the money available to the youths is capable of worsening insecurity in the state.

Meanwhile, Kyrian Uchegbu’s camp while reacting to speculations that Uchegbu has diverted the money said, those spreading the information are being sponsored by a federal lawmaker adding that the crux of the matter is that before now, Dibiagwu was a major contractor in the oil producing area. When Uchegbu insisted that due process be followed in the award of contracts, problems erupted. Hence they resorted to funding people to attack Uchegbu.

However, Uwakwe further stated that, “if Uchegbu insists that the money has been disbursed, let him publish the names of the youths who benefitted from it as anything short of that will be taken as telling lies.”
