The Ihitte Uboma Legislative Assembly has endorsed the vote of confidence passed on the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Council’s Local Government Chairman, Prince Obioha Ndukwe, and the former Secretary to Imo State Government,SSG, Engr Mark Uchendu.
They commended Governor Uzodinma for his giant developmental strides across the state, especially in Ihitte Uboma. They also scored the Chairman of Ihitte Uboma L.G.A, Prince Obioha Ndukwe high for the fast pace of work in different parts of the Local Government Area since he assumed office
The Councilors, in the same vein doffed their hats for Engr Uchendu in recognition of the role he played by convening a stakeholders meeting where far reaching decisions were taken in the interest of the community and its indigenes.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by Hon Kennedy Egeonu, from Ikperejere Ward, Hon Uchenna Cosmas Anyanwu, Amaiyi Ward, Ezeji Obinna, Umuihi Ward, Hon Arch Ekere Emeka, Oketa Ward, Hon Engr Onwuka Anthony, Umuezeagwu Ward, Hon Nwaokorie Barnabas, Atonerim Ward, Uchenna Bede Okafor, Amakohia Ward, Hon Okafor Lawrence E, Abueke Ward, Hon Athan Okeke, Awuchinumo Ward, Hon Nwakofor Anthony, Dineze Ward and made available to the press.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the Councilor representing Abueke Ward, Hon Lawrence Eberechi Okafor and seconded by the Majority Leader, Hon Ezeji Obinna was unanimously endorsed by the House.
They expressed dismay over the misrepresentation of facts by some people who mistook the genuine enquiry about the whereabout of the Toyota Sienna Car donated by sons and daughters of the community to the Local Government Council which is still being withheld by the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Chike Olemgbe.
They said, “though it is quite disheartening that after a successful stakeholders meeting attended by sons and daughters of Ihitte-Uboma both at home and in the Diaspora, on January 7,2025, some persons described them as faceless stakeholders in a newspaper publication, simply because in that meeting, our sons and daughters in the Diaspora asked if the Sienna which they donated through the Speaker has been put to use. And it was explained that our son, Rt.Hon.Chike Olemgbe, the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, whom the Sienna was delivered to since May last year is yet to hand it over to the Council leadership led by Prince Obioha Ndukwe.
As Councillors who believe in the security of our people, and the dogged efforts being made by our amiable Chairman, Prince Obioha Ndukwe to provide the dividends of democracy to our people, we commend the resolution of the stakeholders made on 07/01/2025 . We want to state categorically that nobody is at war with Mr Speaker, but people only inquired why he is yet to release the Toyota Sienna car to the Local Government Council. And that resolution was reached by the entire stakeholders. It will therefore be wrong and and wicked for any person or group to accuse our leader, Chief Mark Uchendu of fighting the Speaker. That is far from the truth and an attempt by some elements to divert the issue at stake.
We commend Engr.Uchendu for his support for His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma and the administration of Prince Ndukwe. Therefore, any attempt to destroy or blackmail these individuals will be vehemently resisted. Ihitte-Uboma had a Speaker in the person of the late Ben Uwajumogu, and we enjoyed it. Ihitte-Uboma benefited immensely from that Speakership. Now we have a Speaker, we expect him to use his good office for the benefit of our people and not to blackmail and destroy other leaders due to his 2027 selfish ambition. It is unfair for Mr Speaker, who was invited for the stakeholders meeting by the Executive Chairman of the LGA, but shunned the two meetings to declare a media war against the Executive Chairman and Engr. Uchendu. It is on record that he has never seen anything good in the leadership of Ihitte-Uboma since the emergence of Prince Obioha as the Executive Chairman of the LGA, forgetting that the Prince of Umuihi Clan was overwhelmingly voted for by the good people of the LGA. Our dream is a secure Ihitte-Uboma where our businesses will flourish and we will continue to commend Prince Obioha Ndukwe, Engr. Uchendu and other stakeholders who have shown concern in the affairs of our LGA.
However, the plenary, which has all the 10 Councillors in attendance, expressed unreserved satisfaction with Hon. Obioha and Engr Uchendu for their determination in aligning with and upholding the 3R mantra of the Dist. Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma administration that has greatly and positively affected the fortunes of the state and charged them to continue with the wonderful works they’re doing and continue providing delivering quality leadership to ndi Ihitte Uboma.
“Prince Ndukwe’s administration has witnessed unprecedented road grading across many communities in Ihitte-Uboma. And more importantly, Isinweke over the years has been in darkness but in his own wisdom, this current administration in the Local Government purchased a transformer which is currently being powered to provide electricity to Isinweke and many other communities in Ihitte-Uboma. This is unprecedented. We give kudos to our Executive Chairman.
We wholeheartedly express our gratitude to His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, our dear governor for ensuring that the entire state particularly Ihitte-Uboma was well secured during the yuletide period and beyond. May God Almighty bless you Sir as you continue to pilot the affairs of our great state to the next level. We use this opportunity to congratulate our working Governor on his 5th year in office..
