–         Demands Arrest, Prosecution Of Anglican Priest, Chief Bailiff, Others For Deceiving Court, Unlawful Detention

The four occupants of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council now collectively known as NUJ-4 who were arrested and sent to prison without arraignment or trial in respect of a case that was still pending in the High Court, have expressed concern and disappointment over the refusal of those concerned to arrest and prosecute the Anglican Priest, Engr Godson Nlemchukwu and the Chief Bailiff, Onyekachi Uba who allegedly connived and deceived the Court to do what many have referred to gross miscarriage of justice.

Oguguom Chinedu, one of the four persons who were sent to prison without arraignment or trial, in a release he signed on behalf of himself and three others said, “it is painful that those who orchestrated the mayhem are still walking about freely as if nothing on earth.

This was contained in the text of a World Press they granted,yesterday.They expressed dismay that those who connived and perpetrated the ignoble act that projected the Judiciary in very bad light are still not only walking about freely but are also bragging that with the contacts they have in the corridors of power in the state, nothing will happen.

The release reads in part, “

They called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Anglican Priest Engr Godson Nlemchukwu and the Chief Bailiff, Onyekachi Uba and others involved in the conspiracy for deceiving the Court, leading to their imprisonment and confiscation of their properties which are yet to be returned to them, despite the fact that the Magistrate has distanced herself from the inhuman treatment they were subjected to.

They also gave the Chief Bailiff Onyekachi Uba, 7 days to return all their properties that were unlawfully carried from the Imo NUJ Secretariat, else, they will have no other option than to seek redress through every legally permissible means.

The victims  called on the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief C.O.C Akaolisa and other top officials in the Judiciary to thoroughly investigate the issue and other questionable activities of Onyekachi Ubah who reportedly often claims that he has enough money to compromise whoever he wants .
