– Says; Party Healthy, Vibrant, Functional
The All Progressive Congress APC, has denied reports trending on different social media platforms that its Imo State chapter is in absolute distress as members of the state executive are not only crying for help but have also accused the Governor of neglect.
The party in a release dated November, 20, 2024, issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Cajetan Duke, said, “The attention of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter has been drawn to an article making rounds the social media platforms with the title “IMO APC IS IN DISTRESS; STATE EXCO MEMBERS CRY OUT FOR HELP; ACCUSE GOVERNOR OF TOTAL NEGLECT”.
Contrary to the unfounded and mischievous claims of the writer in his desperation to disparage the integrity and undermine the credibility of the government, our party the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State is in a very boisterous state of health and proactively functional in the discharge of its responsibilities and have kept it’s financial records clean and updated. The just concluded Local Government elections is a clear pointer to the incontrovertible truth that IMO APC IS FUNCTIONAL AND HEALTHY!
We completely align ourselves with the position of the writer on non-financial commitments or involvement of the governor to the party day-to-day activities. We have continued to pride ourselves that our governor has remained faithful and committed to his oath of office not to allow his personal interest to override his constitutional mandate to do the right thing.
It is also important to state for the benefit of uninformed writers that the governor or state government is not one of the sources of funding for our party. The constitution of our party 2022 as amended in article 22 A provides inter alia that, “the party shall derive funds from: Membership dues, Subscription fees and levies on members, Proceeds from investment, Donations and fundraising, Gifts and Grants, Borrowing as approved by the National Executive Committee and Any other lawful means.
We therefore appeal to our esteemed members, supporters and followers of our great party as well as the good people of Imo State to disregard the said article and its contents, as it is entirely a product of mischief and wickedness”.
