The 12th Annual Professor Celestine Onwuliri Memorial Lecture and scholarship Awards that held at the Event Hall of St Jude Catholic Church, Amuzi in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area on Thursday, November, 7, 2024 offered opportunity for vibrant and incisive intellectual discourse that threw more light on how one’s lifestyle can enhance good health, peace of mind and longevity.
This year’s memorial lecture, with the theme, “THE REMISSION OF* *CHRONIC DISEASES USING THE PILLARS OF LIFESTYLE MEDICINE”, was delivered by Mrs Ijeoma Judith Dozie (Nee) Onwuliri, a Consultant family physician and Board certified lifestyle medicine physician, who is late Prof Celestine Onwuliri’s eldest child and only daughter. She is also a 2023 physician of the year Nominee (Private Sector) in addition to being the first individual to deliver the memorial lecture for two consecutive times.
In her welcome address, Prof (Noble Lady) Viola Onwuliri, on behalf of the Prof Celestine Onwuliri Foundation (PROFOUND) appreciated all the guests present and thanked God for making it possible for the lecture to be sustained up to the 12 edition.
She also thanked all those who have in different ways continued to support PROFOUND, while also urging them not to relent.
In his opening address, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Maduebibisi Ofo lwe, Vice Chancellor, Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, thanked the organizers of the yearly event for their steadfastness in the past 12 years. He also used the opportunity to stress the need for people to take such intellectual programmes seriously.

PROFOUND Memorial Lecture was for the first time, delivered by a female Guest Speaker Dr (Mrs) Ijeoma Judith Dozie (nee Onwuliri), a Consultant family Physician and Board Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician, in 2023 and again in 2024, with the Topic; “The Remission Of Chronic Diseases using the pillars of lifestyle medicine”, emphasized for a healthy lifestyle, based on what we eat and drink and the need to cut down on excessive intake of alcoholic drinks”.
