The Imo State Police Command has initiated a stakeholders meeting with community leaders, civil society organizations and other relevant stakeholders in the state to mark this year’s SERVICOM WEEK.

This was contained in a release signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye and made available to newsmen.

The release dated October, 13, 2024, reads in part, “In recognition of the 2024 SERVICOM Week, the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma has scheduled an important security meeting with community leaders, civil society organisations and stakeholders across the state.

This meeting aims to strengthen police-community relationships and evaluate the quality of police service delivery in the state. It will take place on Tuesday, 15th October 2024, Time10:00am, at the Senior Police Officers Mess in Owerri. This initiative highlights the Command’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability and community engagement in enhancing security.

CP Danjuma encourages the public to actively support police efforts in fostering peace and security. By promoting open communication, the Command seeks to build trust and improve the overall quality of service provided to citizens.

Recent community feedback has raised concerns about the conduct of a few recalcitrant police officers, including issues of extortion, incivility, and unlawful searching of citizens’ phones, particularly targeting youth. In response, CP Danjuma has directed the Command’s Complaint Response Unit (CRU) and the IGP X-Squad Unit to investigate these matters and enhance oversight of officers on duty.

To enhance accountability, the Commissioner of Police urges the public to report any misconduct by police officers through the dedicated CRU and X-Squad hotlines: 08033424051, 08148024755, 0706 741 9738, and 08103341610. This initiative underscores the Command’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding high professional standards within the police force.

This meeting represents a vital opportunity for all stakeholders to voice their concerns and contribute to the improvement of policing in Imo State.

Together, we can create a safer and more respectful environment for all citizens.

The Imo State Police Command remains dedicated to enhancing service delivery and upholding the rights and dignity of every individual”.
