– Gets Accreditation For Law, Medicine, Lab Science, others
– as V.C credits Uzodinma for success
Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ideato, has recorded another monumental achievement, as the institution, has once again been granted accreditation for some of its programmes, including Law, Medicine, Nursing Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Public Health, Environmental Hygiene/Science, among others.
This was contained in a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the institution by the Acting Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC).
The letter dated September, 6, 2024 and signed by the Acting Director, Academic Plan, Abubakar M Girel, with the caption, “RE: RESOURCE ASSESSMENT YISIT TO PROPOSED ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES”, reads, “The Vice-Chancellor is please invited to recall that a resource verification visit was carried out by panels of experts to some proposed academic programmes in Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ogboko, Imo State with a view to assessing the human and material resources available for their establishment”.
The letter further stated that, “I am directed to inform the Vice-Chancellor that the Ag. Executive Secretary has considered and approved the establishment of the full-time mode of the following programmes to be run in the Main Campus of the University with effect from 2024 12025 academic session.
MBBS. Medicine, B.NSc. Nursing Science, B. Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS), LL.B. Law, B.Sc. Information Technology, B.Sc. Cyber Security, B.Sc. Public Health, B.Sc. Environmental Health Science.
I am to add that the approval does not cover the part time mode of delivery of the undergraduate programmes. Before the part-time mode of the programme can commence, a request should be forwarded to the Commission for further processing.
The programmes shall bear only the approved title and nomenclature and any change will require the approval of the Commission. The University is enjoined to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the approved programmes”.
When contacted, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof INS Dozie, said he would not have succeeded in piloting the affairs of the institution and achieving the much he has done without the support of the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who he said attatched much importance to education and the welfare of youths.
He expressed gratitude to the Governor for giving him the opportunity to serve and his tremendous support that has not only enhanced his performance but also enabled him to record commendable achievements in a very short period.
According to him, “Imo people may not fully appreciate the good works the Governor is doing now but in future when the results will not only be glaring but will yield the desired results.
The highly elated Vice Chancellor pledged to continue with his transformation agenda, pointing out that, in no distant time, KOMU will be one of the best universities in Nigeria and Africa.
