Reactions have continued to trail the election of 30-year-old Lancelot Obiaku as the State Publicity Secretary of the Imo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with many hailing the party for getting it right to entrust such a sensitive position in the hands of a competent youth.
With the social media awash with the development, most of the people who gave their opinions commended the party for rewarding loyalty and competence with Obiaku’s election.
Obiaku, who hails from Amaraku in the Isiala Mbano local government area of the State was unanimously voted by delegates of the party at the congress held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, scoring 2,900 votes.
A PDP leader in Okigwe LGA, Hon. Martin Udogu, who spoke to our correspondent during the congress said: “Lancelot Obiaku has paid his dues. His election as State Publicity Secretary is a case of square in a square hole. This also shows that the leadership and members of PDP in Imo State are now rewarding loyalty and encouraging the growth of worthy young men. The young man is competent. He deserves it and will do well”
Obiaku has been a media practitioner for eight years, within which he has served the party as the Director-General of the party’s New Media Directorate in Imo State between July 2019 and February 2020 and also January 2023 and August 2024, and proved his mettle, providing strong opposition to the ruling government and polishing the image of his party.
He was a founding member of the New Media Directorate and was always known for his consistency, sincerity, and loyalty to the party and its leaders.
Expectations are high that Lancelot Obiaku will perform excellently in his new position.
