– Insists On Low Key Celebration At Family, Village, Autonomous Community Levels
Ezuruezu Mbaise, the apex socio-cultural organization of all Mbaise people, at home and in the Diaspora, has said that, the 2024 Iri Ji Mbaise, which used to be a carnival like event, would be celebrated in a low-key.
The group, stated this in a release dated August, 7, 2024 and signed by Sir Surv Joe Ano Sikeh and Ano Anyanwu as President General and Secretary General respectively.
The release with the caption, “Ezuruezu Mbaise Statement on On Iri Ji Mbaise 2024”, reads, “Ezuruezu Mbaise, apex sociocultural organization of all Mbaise people after due consultations with Ndi Eze Mbaise hereby issues the following statement:
Ezuruezu Mbaise is concerned with the current security situation in the different parts of Imo State where many lives have been lost due to security breaches. As a result of this, Ezuruezu Mbaise is uncomfortable with having a large gathering of people in Mbaise for now. Ezuruezu Mbaise therefore directs as follows:
That the 2024 Iri Ji Mbaise shall be celebrated in a low-key
That the Iri Ji celebration shall be limited to families, villages and Autonomous communities.
That Ezuruezu Mbaise hereby dissociates itself from any attempt by any group purporting to organize Iri Ji on behalf of Mbaise.
Consequently, Ezuruezu Mbaise has not invited and will not be inviting any individual, group or organizations to Iri Ji Mbaise ceremony this year 2024.
