Some members of the All Progressive Congress APC in Imo State, are presently grumbling and expressing reservation about what they described as the cunning defection of Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, a former member of Labour Party, who recently defected to the APC.They added that Senator Onyewuch who has remained inconsistent as long party politics is concerned can’t reap whers he didnt sow.”He may have done it in the past but now now when we are all here and have been finding thenparty”,he stated.
One of the APC Chieftain from Okigwe zone, who does not want his name mentioned, said, “Senator “Onyewuchi, that we all know, is a schemer and an opportunist, whose intention of joining the APC, is to play the spoilers game for some of us, who, aside bag interested in contesting the governorship election in 2027, have also invested our resources, time and energy for the sustenance and growth of the party. Hence, we are supposed and appreciated with the opportunity for elective positions, especially where and when indicate such interest”.
The source further stated that, one of their major concerns, for which we intend to confront the Governor, is his sudden chummy relationship with Onyewuchi, which they suspect was why the APC lost in Owerri zone, even when it won in the other zones”.
The party Chieftain posited that, if what they are hearing is true, then, there no need for one to be loyal or committed to the ideals of the party.
“How can Onyewuchi, who left the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, for the PDP, left the PDP, for Labour Party and has also left Labour Party for the APC, be given preference over those of us who have remained consistent. Some of us known that Onyewuchi was neither committed to, nor worked for the victory of the governorship candidate of his former party, Senator Athan Achonu, but, rather worked for Uzodinma”.
Onyewuchi, in his letter of resignation as a member of Labour Party ad formal declaration for the All Progressive Congress APC, which was read by the Senate President, hinged his resignation on the intractable division and conflicts in the Labour Party, comended the Governor of Imo State and President Bola Tinubu for their exceptional performances.
He also extolled President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio for the excellent way he has been presiding over the affairs of the senate.
