…Extols Uzodimma For Fixing Imo Councils Poll Sept. 21
The Special Citizens Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC South/East chapter,Chief Dr. Stanley Chinedu Nwachukwu has lauded the President and Commander -in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,His Excellency,Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the recent Supreme Court judgement granting 774 Local Government Areas in the Country financial autonomy.
Recall that the Federal Government under the present leadership of President Tinubu had earlier dragged States Governors to court over financial management of local governments.
Speaking to newsmen on Monday 15th July,2024 after APC stakeholders meeting held in Abakaliki, the capital city of Ebonyi State,Dr. Nwachukwu as the Party leader of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities, JONAPWD South/East,described the Supreme Court verdict as the best thing that has ever happened to Nigerians under the present administration of President Tinubu.
He expressed happiness that dividends of democracy can now reach the grassroots maintaining that elected councils chairmen and wards councillors will have enormous jobs to do in making sure that government gets to doorsteps of every rural dweller.
Hear him,”State government houses can now be less busy. This is a welcome development,and victory for democracy.
Before,it was like Nigeria runs two tiers of governments whereas they are three.
“Local governments were not really existing before, but they can now yield the purposes of creating them.
Let me also sieze this opportunity to extol my own Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State for quickly implementing the Supreme Court decision by fixing September 21st,2024 for Local Governments election.
I’m optimistic that the election will be free and fair because our Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is a democrat.
“He has no anointed candidates. I am only urging my party,APC to look inward and ensure that credible candidates emerge flagbearers of our dear party so as to challenge other political parties candidates during the election.
“However, I’m sure that APC will win 27/27 just like the way Governor Hope Uzodimma won 27/27 in the last Imo State off-cycle gubernatorial election.
“I’m yet to answer clarion calls from my people of Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State. They want me to contest for the chairmanship seat so as to showcase that there are abilities in disabilities, but I will make my decision known in no distant time”.
Earlier, the special citizens leader revealed that the resolutions of the APC stakeholders meeting centered on how to unite and connect the entire South/East to national grid.
“We want to recover the entire South/East States for APC.
We want to take over Anambra State come next year gubernatorial election.
Imo and Ebonyi are already APC States.
APC is the largest political party in Africa.
And South/East will reap more dividends of democracy if they shun opposition parties “,he stated.
