-Insists Infrastructure Not Commensurate With Accrued Revenue Allocations

– Urges Uzodinma To Address Challenges

Concerned Imo Indigenes Foundation (CIIF), a non governmental organization, comprising credible stakeholders, successful entrepreneurs and seasoned administrators across the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo state, who are saddled with the responsibility of advocating for good governance, rule of law, due process and leadership accountability, has expressed utmost disappointment at the decaying state of infrastructure in the state, thereby, especially, the deplorable condition of Imo roads.

The Convener of the Movement, Comrade Victor Osondu, a Human Rights Advocate and accomplished entrepreneur from Orlu LGA, while addressing the press over the weekend, highlighted some of the challenges faced by Imolites and all those residing or running businesses in the state.

He revealed that many constituencies in Imo are in precarious situations; ranging from lack, deprivation, insecurity, and overall socio-economic meltdown occasioned by lack of basic amenities and social services.

He further noted that many young entrepreneurs, small and medium size enterprises (SMES) in rural communities of the state have been run aground due to lack of power and poor infrastructural development.

According to him, the executive governor of Imo State and all elected officer in the state should remember that it is the constitutional right of Imo citizens to enjoy good road networks, standard healthcare system, security and enabling environment where youths leverage on their collective expertise to conquer new frontiers and accomplish remarkable feats in business; while women contribute business ideas, knowledge and strategies for economic flow and men foster a cohesive environment where beneficial ideas flourish as they support one another and engage in meaningful interactions that proffer competitive economic growth and development.

To foster economic growth, financial prosperity and to enhance the living standard of Imo people, he urged Governor Hope Uzodinma to quickly address the deplorable state of Imo infrastructures.

He emphasized that the increase of monthly allocations from Federal Government to Imo State due to the removal of fuel subsidy is not reflecting on the infrastructures of the state, citing the death traps on our roads, poor health facilities, unconducive learning environment, lack of industry, factories and jobs.

He wondered where the allocations and revenues of the state are channeled to amid negligence of sundry human based issues that require immediate attention.

However, Comr. Osondu commended the governor for his visible intervention on Orlu- Owerri road and Okigwe – Owerri road while also reminding him on the urgent need to reconstruct many terrible roads in many LGAs of the state and to ensure compulsory infrastructural developments to ease the stress witnessed by road users, business owners and indeed every individual in Imo.

Continuing, the youthful activist congratulated Imo National Assembly (NASS) Members on the completion of their one year in office, charging them to invest heavily in human capital development, youth empowerment, job creations, so as to proffer lasting solutions to youths’ restiveness, social vices and all forms of criminality witnessed in the state.

He also used this opportunity to call on all patriotic Imolites who are committed to fighting bad leadership, misrepresentation, maladministration in Imo to join Concerned Imo Indigenes Foundation (CIIF) on their efforts towards correcting and addressing leadership ills as Watchdogs of the society.
