The State High Court complex is expected to be besieged by members of Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ, Imo State Council as the court is set to look into the Union’s property case taking place today at the Court complex Owerri the State Capital.
The case is coming up amid anxiety among those who were involved in the alleged selling of the Union’s property initiated by some criminal elements in NUJ who allegedly connived with Rochas Okorocha Proxy, against the wishes of majority members of the chapter.
The attempt to illegally sell off the property worth about billions of Naira is still raising dust as majority of the members who opposed the idea went to court to challenge the move.
It was learnt that the major legal weapon using by those who were against the sell of the property was that those claiming to be the leadership of the union were not recognized by the majority because of the way they emerged which ran contrary to the Union’s Constitution.
The case that is coming up today as it was learnt will go a long way in determining the fate of the Union in State as it was gathered that those accused, have the backing of some Government Officials that are trying to frustrate the court process.
