Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, (KOMU) Ideato, has, in line with its passionate commitment to ensuring quality teaching and learning, recorded another land mark achievement, as the National University Commission NUC, has approved full accreditation for three new courses in the institution.
The programmes that were granted full accreditation are Computer Science, Economic and Sociology.
This, according to Bright C. Okere, Special Adivser to the Vice Chancellor on Media, is contained in a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Ikechukwu N.S Dozie by the NUC. The letter reads as follows, “Section 10 (1) of the Education (National Minimum and Establishment of Institutions) Act, CAP E3, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004, empowers the National Universities Commission to lay down minimum academic standards for all academic programmes taught in Nigerian Universities and also accredit such programmes. In line with the provisions of the Act, the Commission organised accreditation of the programmes at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ogboko in October/November, 2023.
The result of the exercise is as follows”:- Computer Science – FULL, Economics- FULL, Sociology – FULL.
An elated Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dozie attributed the success of the exercise to God Almighty, the steady support by the Visitor to the University and Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON and the hardworking and dedicated staff of the University.
By this development, all mature programmes in the university have Full accreditation status”.
