An ominous gale of uncertainty seems to have eclipsed the hopes of most of Governor Hope Uzodinma’s loyalists who expected that he should have unveiled names of new appointees and members of his post election cabinet by now. But this is not the case, as the Governor has flown to France in the company of President Bola Tinubu.
A source who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity, said, “as it is now, nobody knows what the Governor has in mind, considering the fact that he had earlier barred most of his loyalists from entering the Government House”.
The source further stated that some over zealous former appointees have been trailing the Governor to see if he would consider them for re-appointment into his new cabinet.
The Governor’s failure or inability to decide who and who will constitute his new cabinet is the major reason activities at the Government House have become stagnant”.
Recall, that were are speculations that the Governor has dumped the former Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Cosmas Iwu for the former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Emeka Nduka, who is said to have been chosen to replace Iwu in the new cabinet.
Some discerning political pundits who are conversant with political permutations in the state have said that regrettably, most of those who played key roles in actualizing Governor Uzodinma’s political ambitions may not be adequately rewarded. “That was why he said in his valedictory speech that those who are not fortunate enough to be reappointed should neither begrudge nor fight his administration because there is need to inject new ideas”.
However, some people are of the opinion that former Governor Sam Mbakwe’s famous speech that, “political appointment is adequate and commensurate reward for political support” should be applied and seen to have been applied, as anything short of this, will depict ingratitude”.
