–Sacks APC Candidate,Obodo
The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, yesterday, November, 23, 2023, sacked the member, representing Owerri Municipal Council State constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Obodo of the All Progressive Congress APC, and declared Hon Clinton Amadi of Labour Party winner of the election.
Recall, that the Imo State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal that sat in Mararaba,Nasarawa State, had declared Amadi winner of the election which was keenly contested by Obodo of the APC, Hon Solomon Anukam of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, who was then the incumbent and others. But Obodo, who was not satisfied with the tribunal’s judgment went to the Appeal Court where Amadi has also won.
The March, 18, election in Owerri Municipal Council was said to be marred by irregularities, one of which was that the votes said to have been cast were far more than the total number of registered voters.
However, unknown to the perpetrators of the electoral fraud, the Labour Party candidate, Clinton Amadi, had the Certified True Copies of the authentic results which he tendered, hence his victory.
