– Says: Frivolous Accusations Against PDP Chieftains, Diversionary, Inconsequential
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November, 11, 2023 Imo State governorship election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, (Samdaddy) has accused the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma of sponsoring frivolous accusations against chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to divert the attention of Imo people and Nigerians at large from his failure to protect the lives and property of the citizens which is his cardinal responsibility.
Anyanwu, in a release signed by Ikenna Onuoha, Director, Media and Publicity Imo PDP Governorship Campaign Council dated September, 26, also alleged that insecurity and its attendant challenges which were very minimal before Uzodinma became the Governor of Imo State, assumed a frightening dimension when one of his kinsmen from Awo-Omamma was allegedly killed by the Ebubeagu Security Network set up and equipped by the Uzodinma administration.
The statement also noted that, “On Monday, September 25, 2023, the people of Imo state witnessed another unwholesome, distasteful and politics of calumny in the history of Imo state when some group of disgruntled elements masquerading as PDP members erroneously accused the PDP Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu of purportedly sponsoring insecurity.
However, immediately after the jamboree, an internal investigation to unravel those behind the dastardly act commenced and result of that investigation showed that the miscreants are members of APC working for Hope Uzodinma’s re-election bid.
This cheap blackmail has attracted attention of Nigerians who have since come out openly to condemn the act, and wondered why Uzodinma and his supporters could resort to such primitive, clannish and petty politics in a desperate bid to retain power. This is an indication that Uzodinma and his outgoing administration have lost bearing and resorted to shadow chase.
It is very important to remind Imo people and Nigerians at large that insecurity may have started in Imo state immediately a suspected leader of non state actors from Awo Omama was murdered in cold blood by suspected government agents. This situation could have radicalized the deceased supporters leading to what our people are facing today”.
According to the statement, “Recall that in a bid to cripple some political leaders in order to remain the only cock that crows in the state, Uzodinma’s first assignment on assumption of office as Governor was to accuse former Governor Rochas Okorocha, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, and Hon Uche Nwosu of sponsoring insecurity.
Not satisfied with that, same Uzodinma went ahead to accuse His Excellencies, Engr Gerald Irona, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and recently, Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere of the same offense. The truth of the matter is that in all these frivolous accusations, no link of insecurity in the state has been traced to them after investigation. Indeed, Uzodinma is a big Joker.
Today, the same Uzodinma, who is supposedly the Chief Security Officer of the state has resorted to another pettiness and political jamboree by recruiting members of his party to go about spreading falsehood against his major contender in the Governorship race and candidate of PDP, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu of sponsoring insecurity in the state”.
All these, according to the press statement reflect the character of a man who is noted ready to discharge his functions diligently as the Chief Security Officer of the state. In a sane society, people like Uzodinma shouldn’t be allowed to contest any election due to his political philosophy. A man who failed release names of supposed sponsors of insecurity in the state after he, in different fora promised to do so should not be taken serious again.
What our candidates, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu and Rt Hon Jones Onyereri are confronted with is how to eradicate hardship, poverty, improve agriculture, revive health centers, guarantee quality education, construct quality rural and urban roads, and secure Imo state from the stranglehold of irresponsible government. No more, no less.
Any other thing Uzodinma’s men are peddling outside these should be viewed as pure blackmail and destructive propaganda. Therefore, Imo people and Nigerians at large are urged to ignore the falsehood and see it as the handiwork of mischief makers”.
