A University don, Prof Protus Uzorma, has commended yesterday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal which affirmed Joseph Ukaegbu as the candidate of Labour Party for the upcoming governorship election in Imo State.
Uzorma, a renowned human rights activist and social crusader who spoke to our correspondent on phone, said, “Labour Party is one family, despite the minor misunderstanding which is bound to happen in any political contest”.
“As far as I am concerned, there is no victor and no vanquished. The most important thing now, is for all aggrieved persons to come together to ensure that the person who the court in its wisdom has affirmed as the candidate of the party emerges victorious in the upcoming election”.
He expressed optimism that Labour Party will win the November,11, election adding that, “if by tomorrow, the Court of Appeal or any other court of competent jurisdiction recognizes another person as the governorship candidate of Labour Party, I will still support and work for that person’s victory in the interest of the party and that of Imo people, whose collective interest is paramount”.
However, in the absence of any other court judgment, Joseph Ukaegbu (Ikenga) remains the candidate of Labour Party”.
