– Condemns Incessant Harassment Of Notable Citizens
The candidate of Action Alliance(AA) for the November,11, governorship election in Imo State, Major General Lincoln Jack Ogunewe (Rtd), has called for the immediate release of popular on-air personality, Theodore Chinonoso Uba (Nonso Nkwa) of Ozisa fm radio station form the custody of the Force Criminal Investigation Department FCID, Abuja.
Recall, that Nonso Nkwa, was ambushed, arrested and whisked away in a gestapo manner by hooded men who were later identified as operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
Nonso Nkwa, was reportedly arrested in front of Assumpta Cathedral Owerri on his way home after anchoring his morning programme on Ozisa fm radio station.
Ogunewe condemned the way and manner notable citizens of the state, including former Governor, Rochas Okorocha, his successor in office, Emeka Ihedioha, his deputy Gerald Irona Okorocha’s inlaw, Uche Nwosu, among others, have been subjected to various degrees of harassment, intimidation, mental psychological torture by the current administration in the state.
Gen. Ogunewe wondered why Mr Nonso Nkwa has not been charged to court if the State Government is claiming to be defamed.
He called on the Inspector General of police to without delay, release Citizen Nonso Nkwa or charge him to court as obtainable in other civilised World. Imo Citizens deserve to have their basic rights respected as enshrined in the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, he said.
He wondered why policemen who came to arrest a citizen should be hooded while operating in a gestapo manner, adding that the method they used is unprofessional and uncalled for.
