Orluzurumee Youth Association (OYA) the apex socio-cultural umbrella body of youths in the 12 Local Government Areas of Orlu zone has concluded plans to embark on what it called a “Peace and Development Campaign”.
The group stated this in a release signed by it’s national President, Comrade Thaddeus Emejuru and made available to this reporter,yesterday.
According to the release, the campaign with the theme, ‘’Unleashing the Power of Peace: Campaign For Sustainable Development”, is aimed at fostering sustainable development by promoting peace, harmony, inclusiveness and collaboration in the zone.
It noted that, in the zone which is characterized by conflict and infrastructural decay, the pursuit of peace and development offers a beacon of hope and mutual co-existence that should be cherished by all well meaning people.
Continuing, the group said, “Our campaign recognizes that peace is not merely the absence of violence, but a holistic concept that encompasses social, economic, and environmental dimensions. By addressing the root causes of conflicts, promoting dialogue, and fostering understanding, we believe that peace becomes a catalyst for positive change and sustainable development.
“Through strategic partnerships, grassroots initiatives, and community engagement, we aim to create an environment where individuals and communities in Orlu zone can thrive.
“Our campaign will focus on advocating for peace, engaging the relevant quarters in a dialogue, and bridging socio-economic gaps by being the voice for youth employment and empowerment, as we believe that true peace can only be achieved when everyone has equal access to opportunities and resources.
“Furthermore, we recognize the vital role of the security agencies and vigilante groups in fostering long-lasting peace and security of lives and properties. Our campaign will actively engage them so as to bring an end to this menace rampaging the zone.
“Join us on this journey towards a more peaceful and prosperous Orlu zone.
“Together, we can harness the power of peace to unlock the full potential of Orlu People and build an Orlu Zone where all individuals can live in dignity, harmony, and sustainable development.
“Orluzurumee Youth Assembly being the Apex Youth body in Orlu zone is Open to Meaningful partnerships with individuals, groups and NGO’s with similar vision of making Orlu great again.
We have outlined our programmes ranging from School tour, Security Summit, Visit to Cheshire home/Orphanages, Youth empowerment programmes and lots more. Your support on these projects will go a long way”.
