–Denies Endorsement Of Candidate
A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State, Chief Richmond Osuji, has described the purported endorsement of the party’s governorship candidate for the November, 11, election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu by the Aboh Mbiase chapter of the party as absolutely unnecessary.
Chief Osuji, who slated this in a release dated July, 11, 2023, which he personally signed, cautioned those behind the purported to retrace their steps because their action gives the erroneous impression that there is division in the party.
The release which he made available to the press reads, “The attention of the Leadership of PDP Aboh-Mbaise chapter has been drawn to a news item currently circulating in the social media platforms and some electronic and print media to the effect that people of Aboh- Mbaise have endorsed the candidature of Senator Samuel Anyanwu for the November 11, 2023 governorship election.
Senator Anyanwu is the candidate of the PDP in the governorship election and the issue of his endorsement by any chapter of the party does not arise. The party in Aboh-Mbaise is a family and we carry out our political programme in unity and discipline.
Let it be known that neither the Apex leadership committee nor the Elders Committee has met to make any ‘endorsement’. We are loyal Party members. We do not need to do so.
Let there be no factionalization or economic interest induced division in the Aboh-Mbaise PDP.
Consequently, the action of a few members of the party done in absolute disrespect of our leaders and elders should not be seen as the voice of Aboh-Mbaise PDP and supporters. The procedure for courting support of the people is well known. It is never done behind the leaders and elders of the party who were never consulted before this “endorsement” when there is no dispute over governorship candidature”.
