– As indigenes in Diaspora undertakes to payment of electricity bills
The people of Umuahii/Obokwe Umunkwo in Obi Mbieri Autonomous community,Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State have heaved signs of relief, as their children residing overseas have resolved to temporarily pay their electricity bills, to ameliorate their plight.
This decision according to a release issued by the community to that effect was taken on June, 18, to commemorate the 2023 Father’s Day.
The release signed by Chinweuba Douglas Iwuorie, Chairman, Umuahii/Obokwe Umunkwo Fedline Electricity Project and Increase Akuchie, Finance Manger, Umuahii/Obokwe Umunkwo Fedline Electricity Project stated that, the decision to embark on the gesture was reached after extensive deliberation and consideration of the debilitating effects of the current economic situation and it’s impact on the people. Hence, they resolved that relieving the people of the burden cast on them by huge electricity bills will enable them deploy the money spent on it towards addressing other essential needs.
‘’On the question of maintenance, we concluded that only EEDC licensed electrician is authorized to handled all issues relating to the transformer. Any person or persons without such accreditation or qualified license caught tampering with the transformer in any way at all, will be referred to EEDC for immediate action.
“Again, this is goodwill gesture from our good citizens of Umuahii and Obokwe Umunkwo in diaspora embarking upon this gargantuan task to alleviate the prevalent economic burden at home. Henceforth, no further discussion is needed regarding the collection and payment of electricity bills until further notice. This issue has finally come to a peaceful and acceptable resolution’’.
