It was a moment of joy in the presence of God, on Sunday, June, 25, 2023 as the Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State, on Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency,Hon Okereke Godson was conferred with the Distinguished Ambassador Award by the Anglican Chapel of Light, a place, where he was raised and mentored by Ven Dr Kelechi Okere and his wife.
Expressing his excitement at the award the recipient,the Former Zone B NANS coordinator said, ‘’With the presence of crops of comrades that trooped to the church on hearing of my presence on campus, I’ve learnt that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Their testimonies and experience in TEAM-BISHOP’s school of leadership was soul lifting. They also signify that we are gradually building great army for a generational shift. My job is not to be easy on people, my job is to take these great people we have, push them and make them even better. I am grateful for their understanding of why I have decided to operate on a very low-key for now’’.
‘’Indeed, the award availed me the opportunity to reflect on my past with a renewed spirit for a greater future. I was able to interact with great youths of Imo State after the church service. We discussed charming visions for a greater Imo State and Nigeria at large. I am optimistic that with the right orientation and government support, Imo youths are willing to support the growth and development of our dear State.
I utilized the profound opportunity to preach the developmental strides of his Excellency Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma and the need to continue supporting him for a better Imo State beyond 2023, with the promise of his visit to the biggest Anglican Archdeaconry that ever existed in a tertiary Institution in the Southeast (ACOL), during our November governorship campaign.
To me, the Award is merited following my years of service and positive impact on youth development and capacity building in Imo State and Nigeria at large. It’s an added tonic of motivation to continue in my project of youth advocacy. I appreciate everyone who attended the church service, most especially, my own support system, my beautiful wife whose great guide has been a wonderful pillar on which I will continue to build upon.
