-Commends Governor On Road infrastructure
-Makes case for unpaid workers
The Acting Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress in Imo State, Comrade George Ofoegbu has said that workers in the state are not at war with the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma.
Ofoegbu who sated this while reacting to a recent media report, said he was quoted out of a context in some areas.
He said the NLC, Imo State chapter is happy with the governor’s giant infrastructural strides especially in the area of road construction and rehabilitation. He specifically mentioned the Orlu-Owerri, Owerri-Okigwe and Owerri-Umuahia roads, among others, which he described as very commendable feats.
The NLC boss also commended the Governor for providing buses that convey workers to and fro work thereby easing their transportation challenges.
Continuing, he said, ‘’all these not withstanding, there are areas where the state government needs to improve on. These are, the prompt payment of salaries and pensions of Imo workers and retirees.
The Governor, no doubt has very good intentions for Imo workers. But unfortunately, those around him are misinforming him by saying that no worker in the state is being owed salary which is not the true position.
‘’To stop this deliberate misinformation, I on behalf of Imo workers, advise the governor to look inwards and find alternative ways of directly feeling the pulse of the workers with a view to knowing the real situation on ground. This will bridge the communication gap and engender a more cordial and harmonious relationship between the workers and the state government’’.
