Prof Francis Dike (SAN) a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Imo state, has joined alongside other prominent and eminent politicians and statesmen in solidarity with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi and other credible candidates that the party parades.
Elder statesmen and acclaimed scholar described Labour Party as a movement geared towards emancipating the country from rot.
He described the LP presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, as a Nigerian son and not just Igbo, because his approach to issues is nationalistic in nature, hence most people supporting him are from other parts of the country. He expressed optimism that Obi will win the 2023 election.
“If you watch, you will understand that God is positioning him for something great,” he stated.
Prof Dike, who is also the leader of Orlu Elders Forum and a staunch member of Imo Elders Forum, said he hopes to witness a debate between Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu to give Nigerians an opportunity to assess the candidates on their programmes for the country to enable the electorate vote wisely in the coming election.
In his response at the declaration, the LP Vice Chairman, Agumba Okeke commended Prof. Dike for identifying with the party.
He said the party was formed to be victorious, and designed for the common man right from the time of former National Chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, to the current man, Abure.
Okeke, who commended Prof. Dike for identifying with the party, assured that with Obi as President, issues of insecurity, agitation and bad economy would be drastically reduced.
He further said that, “Labour Party has put everything in place to ensure that Peter Obi wins convincingly. If they say that Obi is only on social media, they are saying it at their peril.”
Prof Dike lauded Nigerian youths for identifying with Peter Obi rehashing that he is a messenger of God sent to make them actualize their dreams and for him “ I am concerned about movement because that is where the future of my children lies.”
